Desperately trying to make lemonade

Pretending to be a music teacher

Ok, first things first. Mom is out of the hospital after a long 9 days. I got to see her and try to rid her of some of her boredom. Which means stealing her and running her around outside in the hot Houston weather. We only got slightly in trouble once because we didn't tell anyone where we were going and the doctor came looking for her. But we found out she had a strep infection and that it's gone now, but the skin is still trying to recover.

Second, I started my substituting job. I was a copy lady one day and an elementary music teacher for a day and a half. Imagine, watching "Charlotte's Web" 7 times in one day. But it wasn't too bad. I wrote some letters, read a book and got a hug from a second grader the second day. Second graders ROCK!!

Today I ran up to the university to try to get things sorted out with classes and books, but nothing really worked out. But I did find out they published the wrong start day for the classes. I'll start AFTER labor day instead. So, that's kind of cool.

I also started guarding at the pool at the other school district. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Well, at least the first day wasn't. I think I may even be able to do my homework there! Yay!!

So, that's the news from Lake Wobagon...wait...well, from somewhere waaaaayyyy southish of there.

Cute doctors

My mom has decided to go visit her cute doctors. Although, that means that she had to get an infection in her leg to go see them and spend the past couple of days in the hospital. She seems to be doing alright. My dad stays with her and everytime I call, she gets several more calls, so I don't really get to talk to her much. It's been about 2 years since she was last in the hospital, so I guess it's about time....;) *teasing! I promise!*

My apartments tried to make me pay them more money. I called them and got it straightened out. Some days they are a pain!

Well, I'm going to have 3 jobs this semester. Job 1: Substitute teaching. Job 2: Head guard over at a different school district about 3 days a week in the evenings. Job 3: Recreation Leader where I'll open up rented buildings occasionally on the weekends. Plus, I'm going to be taking 2 classes. My mantra for this semester..."I can do it, I can do it, I can do it" Repeat several hundred times a day. For awhile I am lacking work, now I have an over-abundance of work. Not that I'm complaining.

The past two days I've worked with the same people and in the same order at two different pools. That almost never happens. It's crazy! Fortunately, it's people I like working with, Tiffany, Shawn and Eric. Eric's such a cutie! I work with him again today. I think part of it is is tht some kids have already gone back to school or need the time to get ready to go back to school.

That's all the interesting news....

August has set in

I passed my classes!!! One A one B! If I'd totally gotten everything together for that one unit and turned my homework in on time, I'm sure it would have been 2 A's , se la vie. I start my new classes on the 29th. Actually, there's this whole meet the teacher and learn about the class thing on Saturday before classes start, so I need to contact the profs and let them know I won't be making it. I don't even know what classes they are. They're just the last two sit-down classes I have to take before either interning or student teaching. Hopefully, I'll find a place to do one of those for the spring semester.

Tyanne came and spent the night last night. It was so good getting to talk to her and get updated on what's going on in her life. I'd forgotten that she's been married so long! She's going to this young adults week thing and wanted to come by which was great. We stayed up late last night talking and then talked some more this morning. I miss her. I forget how good of friends I use to have before moving up here. It's hard to keep in contact when so many things in life change between two people and then you add distance to the mix.

I've been hearing all sorts of great camp stories! I'm so excited to hear them. It almost, but not quite makes up for the fact that I didn't get to go. Seeing pictures makes me sad, but the stories are awesome! There are so many sides to camp! So far, I've talked to Linda, Jon, Jonny G, Bert, Lacey, Trevor and Jordan. Fortunately, Jordan and Trevor had a blast and now they're trying to convince all the other kids at church to go to camp. I think that's great! Oh! Speaking of great news, Jessica got baptised yesterday! It was so awesome! It's neat because the young people are all getting baptised in this area and we all get new brothers and sisters.

I'm working at Midway today because one of the other managers is working a party tonight over at my pool and didn't want to drive over ASAP after his pool closed. I'll have to see if I've got 3 or 4 people working today. If it's 3, Aaron said he'd send over Trey to work. Midway really struggles with having only 3 guards. It's do-able sorta, but not really. Wilshire is totally do-able with 3 guards.

I had a great interview at that other pool, but I don't know if I want to work there. It pays more, but I'm still not sure. If I get offered the position, I'll try it out. I'm not just going to give it up. But if it doesn't turn out good, I can always quit. Plus, I talked to my boss here, and he said he could make me a year round person and then I could work weekends just to open up buildings so that people renting them can get in and then just hang out and make sure they clean up. Once the time changes, that'd be no problem I think. Depending on when the rental was. I think I'd like that better. I've prayed about it and I trust God to know what should be offered to me and what shouldn't be. I prayed that if the job wasn't right, that it not be offered to me. The guy over in Southlake was all like, I'll call you by the end of the week, which hasn't happened, but it still could. Who knows.

I've got the first 3 CDs of Nikita currently!! I've been watching them like a crazy person! I LOVE Nikita! I'd forgotten how cool the show was! Anyways, gotta jet!
